Aswan University wins first place in the third edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad
In a new scientific achievement added to its record of excellence, Aswan University announced its first place win (team category) in the third edition of the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, a clear affirmation of its leadership in modern technology fields and the ability of its students to compete regionally and internationally. The Aswan University team participated in five main tracks: artificial intelligence, embedded systems, computer vision, cybersecurity, programming, and problem-solving. The team delivered an exceptional performance, reflecting a high level of technical competence, innovation, and teamwork. The team comprises a distinguished group of engineering students, led by student Noha Nour El-Din, and includes Mohamed Hesham, Khaled Youssef, Ahmed Shazly, Mostafa Magdy, Jihad Adel, and Tabarak Salah, in a commendable example that reflects the empowerment of youth, especially young women, in leading scientific and technological excellence. This achievement came under the patronage of Prof. Loay Saad El-Din Nosrat, President of Aswan University, and under the supervision of the Computer and Artificial Intelligence Research Center (CAIR) at the Faculty of Engineering, and under the leadership of Dr. Samia Hashmat and Dr. Ghada Yahya Abu Zeid, and with the follow-up of Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Mohamed Zakaria, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs. Prof. Loay Saad El-Din Nosrat, President of Aswan University, affirmed that this achievement embodies the university’s vision of supporting scientific excellence and enhancing students’ capabilities in the fields of the future, noting that the university places innovation and advanced technology at the forefront of its priorities, which contributes to preparing a generation capable of leading the digital transformation and achieving sustainable development. Prof. Loay Saad El-Din added that this third edition included student teams from universities in Upper Egypt, and that the first team will be promoted to participate in competitions at the Arab level, and that the real investment is investment in young minds, which represents the cornerstone for building a strong knowledge economy that enhances the university’s scientific standing among Egyptian and regional universities. For his part, Prof. Mohammed Abdulaziz Mahlal, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the university’s winning of this Arab title reflects the integration of academic and research efforts within the university and confirms the success of its strategy in linking theoretical study with practical application. He explained that this excellence is the fruit of continuous support for student activities and scientific research, which enhances the competitiveness of the university’s graduates in the regional and international job market. Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, commended the team’s outstanding performance, emphasizing the faculty’s continued full support for students to participate in various scientific events. This support, he noted, enhances Aswan University’s standing as a leading academic institution in artificial intelligence and advanced technology, and underscores its pivotal role in shaping the future. It is worth mentioning that the third edition of the Olympiad was held at Luxor National University, featuring active participation and strong competition from various participating universities.
