An overview of the department:
The civil engineering department is keen to graduate civil engineers with the basic sciences, skills, and necessary knowledge in accordance with the international criteria and the requirements of building and construction projects. Also the teaching staff and their assistants carry out a lot of researches and studies related to the state’s major constructions projects that serve the society.

The civil engineering department at Aswan faculty of engineering seeks to become pioneering in the field of education, scientific research and society and environment serving at the local and regional level.
Mission:
The civil engineering department aims to supply the labor market at the local and regional level with scientifically and practically qualified and specialized civil engineers through the permanent development of education and research by providing specialized educational programs, academic curriculum, and distinct practical and scientific expertise for advancing the civil engineer and enable him to get his mission to the society and environment done.

Basic statics and dynamics:
It helps the student to analyze the different constructions in order to achieve a valid constructional design and economic whether these constructions were metal, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, or combined sections (metal +concrete) such as:
Multi- floor constructions, towers, bridges, ground constructions, etc…
Basic theories of hydraulics:
It helps the student to design the hydro and marine installations, and also :modern systems of irrigation, irrigation facilities, modern and traditional ways of survey including: topoghraphic,photographic,geodesy,remote sensing.
Transport engineering:
Includes planning and designing road networks and railway.
Sanitary and environmental engineering:
Includes water and sanitation systems and the related installations.
Establishing ways of the different facilities:
How to overcome the difficulties which might show up during the implementation, adjust the quality during the different stages of implementing the facilities including: construction contracts, business management, schedules, list the amounts of business.
Computer programs:
Including the programs of installations analysis, some of design programs, and geodesy applications in the civil works.
