 General provisions:

From Act No.49 of 1972:

Article No.69) the faculty’s council may suspend the student for two consecutive years or separated during years of study in the faculty if he made an acceptable excuse prevented him from attendance and when necessity the university’s council may increase the duration of the suspension.

Article No.171) postgraduate student may be excused from some academic syllables and its exams if it is proven that he attended similar syllables and passed successfully in a recognized university college or scientific institution conditioning that duration of study to get the degree must be more than a year without prejudice the articles No.177 and 178 and the exemption is by a decision of the president of the university after the approval of postgraduate’s council based on a suggestion from the faculty’s council after consulting the relevant department without prejudice the article No.36.

Article No.174) enrollment in postgraduate in the scheduled dates in the internal regulations, and the enrolling is carried out after consulting with the relevant departments the approval of the faculty’s council and the adoption of the university vice president for postgraduate studies and researches.

Article No.92) universities’ councils grant master and Ph.D. degrees upon the proposal of the faculties’ councils according to the following:

Master’s degree:

Includes studying high academic curriculums and training in research methods and extrapolate results and finished with preparing a thesis accepted by the exam’s committee, the duration of getting this degree may not exceed two years.

Ph.D.:

Basically depends on the innovative research for at least two years finishing with submitting a thesis approved by the governance commission.

Article No.93) the internal regulations of the faculties demonstrate the enrolment dates for postgraduate and the article No.23 of the internal regulation of postgraduate studies of faculty of engineering states that enrolment for master’s degree is in October in each year.

Article No.94) postgraduate student may not be enrolled in more than one diploma or academic degree in the same time except only with the approval of postgraduate studies and researches’ council upon a proposal of the faculty’s council and after consulting with councils of the relevant departments.demonstratores and assistant lecturers may not register for a university degree in another specialization of their departments except only with a decision by the university president after the approval of postgraduate studies and researches’ council and after consulting with councils of the relevant departments.

Article No.95) the internal regulation of faculties determines the exam system of postgraduate curriculums and applying opportunities for this exam,

Article No.96) postgraduate student grades as following (excellent-very good-good-pass)

The article No.24) section no.4) of the internal regulation of postgraduate studies of faculty of engineering states that the grades of curriculums and the grades in the general grade shall be as the following

90% or more from the total grades A

80% to less than 90% from the total grades B

70% to less than 80% from the total grades C

60% to less than 70% from the total grades D

30% to less than 60% from the total grades F

30% and less. F-

Article No.97)the internal regulations of the faculties determine the procedures of registering for master’s and Ph.D. and the duration after which the registration considered cancelled except if the council see keep registration for another period determined upon a report from the supervisor.

Article NO.99) universities’ presidents may sole supervising master and Ph.D theses if the registration was inside their universities but if the registration was in another university they may participate in supervising with the supreme council of universities’ secretary ,and they continue supervising or participating in supervision on the theses which have been registered under their supervision before the occupied their posts.

Article No.102) the supervisor on the thesis by the end of every academic year presents a report to the department’s council about the progress of the student in his researches and show this report to the faculty’s council. The council of postgraduate studies and researches upon a proposal of the faculty’s council may cancel the student’s enrolment in the light of these reports.
